Now let’s go season by season.
PSL Season 1 (2016): Islamabad United Launch a Dynasty
| Scores | QG 174/7 vs IU 175/4 |
| Result | Islamabad United won by 6 wickets |
| MOTM | Dwayne Smith, 73 off 51 |
| Captain | Misbah-ul-Haq |
| Venue | Dubai International Cricket Stadium |
The league’s first final was played overseas. Pakistan still couldn’t safely host international cricket in 2016, so the entire first season ran in the UAE.
Islamabad United chased 175 with overs to spare. Dwayne Smith made it look straightforward with 73 at the top.
Andre Russell had been the tournament’s standout bowler, and he backed that up with 3/37 in the final. Misbah-ul-Haq, calm as ever, led United to the first title in PSL history.
PSL Season 2 (2017): Cricket Returns to Lahore
| Scores | PZ 148/6 vs QG 90 all out |
| Result | Peshawar Zalmi won by 58 runs |
| MOTM | Darren Sammy |
| Captain | Darren Sammy |
| Venue | Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore |
This final meant more than a trophy. The 2017 PSL final at Gaddafi Stadium was the first time a PSL match had been played in Pakistan. That alone made it historic.
Peshawar Zalmi were dominant. Quetta Gladiators crumbled to 90 all out chasing 149.
Kamran Akmal had been Peshawar’s engine throughout the tournament, and Darren Sammy’s energy made him one of the most loved foreign players in PSL history.
PSL Season 3 (2018): Islamabad Complete Back-to-Back Run
| Scores | PZ 148/9 vs IU 149/7 |
| Result | Islamabad United won by 3 wickets |
| MOTM | Luke Ronchi |
| Captain | Misbah-ul-Haq |
| Venue | National Stadium, Karachi |
Three wickets. Three balls to spare. Not comfortable, but enough.
Luke Ronchi’s aggressive 52 at the top gave United the platform they needed.
Shadab Khan had been exceptional all tournament and cemented his reputation as one of the PSL’s best young all-rounders.
This was Islamabad’s second title, making them the first franchise to win it twice.
PSL Season 4 (2019): Quetta Finally Win on the Third Attempt
| Scores | PZ 138/8 vs QG 139/2 |
| Result | Quetta Gladiators won by 8 wickets |
| MOTM | Shane Watson |
| Captain | Sarfaraz Ahmed |
| Venue | National Stadium, Karachi |
Quetta Gladiators had lost the first two PSL finals. In 2019, they made no mistakes. Chasing just 139, they cantered home with more than two overs left.
Shane Watson set the tempo with calm, experienced batting. Sarfaraz Ahmed got the captaincy right throughout the tournament. For Peshawar Zalmi, it was their third final loss in four years.
PSL Season 5 (2020): Karachi Kings Win in a COVID-Disrupted Season
| Scores | LQ 134/7 vs KK 135/5 |
| Result | Karachi Kings won by 5 wickets |
| MOTM | Babar Azam, 63* off 49 |
| Captain | Imad Wasim |
| Venue | National Stadium, Karachi |
PSL 5 didn’t look like a normal season. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the PCB to split it across two windows. The final eventually happened on November 17, 2020, months later than planned.
Babar Azam won it almost by himself. His 63 not out controlled the chase from the first over. He barely needed support. As of 2026, this remains Karachi Kings’ only PSL title.
PSL Season 6 (2021): Multan Post the Highest-Ever Final Total
| Scores | MS 206/4 vs PZ 159/9 |
| Result | Multan Sultans won by 47 runs |
| MOTM | Sohaib Maqsood, 65* off 38 |
| Captain | Mohammad Rizwan |
| Venue | Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi |
Another COVID-affected season, another UAE venue. But Multan Sultans made it memorable.
Their 206/4 is still the highest total posted in a PSL final. Rilee Rossouw smashed 50 off 21.
Sohaib Maqsood finished with 65* off 38. Peshawar had no answer.
Mohammad Rizwan walked away with both the trophy and widespread praise for his leadership throughout the campaign.
PSL Season 7 (2022): Lahore End Six Years Without a Title
| Scores | LQ 180/5 vs MS 138 all out |
| Result | Lahore Qalandars won by 42 runs |
| MOTM | Mohammad Hafeez, 69 off 46 + 2 wickets |
| Captain | Shaheen Shah Afridi |
| Venue | Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore |
Lahore Qalandars had been in the league since day one without winning anything. That changed on February 27, 2022.
Mohammad Hafeez delivered one of the great all-round finals performances.
Multan Sultans were bowled out for 138 chasing 181.
The Lahore crowd had waited for this a long time. Shaheen Afridi’s first season as captain ended with a title.
PSL Season 8 (2023): The 1-Run Final That Nobody Will Forget
| Scores | LQ 200/6 vs MS 199/8 |
| Result | Lahore Qalandars won by 1 run |
| MOTM | Shaheen Afridi, 44* off 15 + 4/51 |
| Captain | Shaheen Shah Afridi |
| Venue | Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore |
One run. That’s all it came down to.
Shaheen Afridi hit 44 not out off 15 balls to push Lahore to 200. Then he came back with the ball and took four wickets.
Zaman Khan defended 12 off the final over. Multan needed one run off the last ball and couldn’t get it.
The closest final in PSL history. Lahore became the first team to ever defend the PSL title.
PSL Season 9 (2024): Islamabad United Win a Third Trophy
| Scores | MS 159/9 vs IU 163/8 |
| Result | Islamabad United won by 2 wickets |
| MOTM | Imad Wasim |
| Captain | Shadab Khan |
| Venue | National Stadium, Karachi |
Multan Sultans reached their fourth straight final. Their third straight runner-up finish.
Islamabad United chased 160 and scraped home with 163/8. Imad Wasim kept his head when others were losing theirs.
Shadab Khan’s captaincy earned him a lot of credit. Islamabad joined Lahore on three titles, and they still haven’t lost a final.
PSL Season 10 (2025): Lahore Chase 202 to Win a Record Third Title
| Scores | QG 201/9 vs LQ 204/4 |
| Result | Lahore Qalandars won by 6 wickets |
| MOTM | Kusal Perera, 62* off 31 |
| Captain | Shaheen Shah Afridi |
| Venue | Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore |
Lahore Qalandars chased 202 with one ball left. It’s the highest successful run chase in T20 final history.
Kusal Perera held the innings together with 62 not out. But the moment everyone remembers is Sikandar Raza, who flew in from a Test match in England just minutes before the toss. He came to the crease late and hit the winning six.
Shaheen Afridi became the first captain in PSL history to win three titles.
PSL Season 11 (2026): Peshawar Zalmi Break a Nine-Year Drought
| Scores | HK 184/7 vs PZ 188/5 |
| Result | Peshawar Zalmi won by 5 wickets |
| MOTM | Saim Ayub, 74 off 43 |
| Captain | Babar Azam |
| Venue | Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore |
Peshawar Zalmi hadn’t won since 2017. Nine years. They ended that wait on May 3, 2026, beating the new Hyderabad Kingsmen franchise with two balls to spare.
Saim Ayub led the chase with 74. Rovman Powell came in late and cleared the ropes when 34 were needed off the final three overs. Babar Azam finally had a PSL title to his name as captain.
